LinkedIn, the biggest professional network in the world, has partnered with UN Women to empower women financially. In accordance with this relationship, LinkedIn will contribute $5,00,000 (Rs 3.88 crore). As a trial, this LINK Women initiative would be initiated in Maharashtra.

Approximately 2,000 women will learn the required digital, soft, and employment-related skills via this initiative. After this, they will have access to many career prospects via job fairs, mentorship sessions, and peer-to-peer networks.

Three-Year Project

This collaborative effort between the two parties will last three years. After a 15-month trial, UN Women and LinkedIn will modify their program as necessary and then implement it in additional Asia-Pacific nations. According to Ashutosh Gupta, Manager (India) of LinkedIn, the digital potential of women would be enhanced in conjunction with UN Women, followed by an increase in their engagement in the formal sector. Women will have access to the relevant competencies and resources.

Access to quality education, according to Susan Ferguson, country representative for UN Women in India, is the key to employment and entrepreneurial prospects. Under this project, women will acquire new digital and employability skills to improve their work prospects.

This collaboration will adhere to the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs). These principles instruct companies on how to promote gender equality and the empowerment of women in the workplace, marketplace, and community.

What Role Will LinkedIn and UN Women Play?

UN Women and LinkedIn will unite partners to empower women financially using internet platforms and institutional knowledge. Everyone will collaborate on campaigns and events will be arranged. In addition, influential members of their network will be urged to give equitable employment opportunities for men and women.
