In the story "Packing," three friends are getting ready for a trip. So, a summary of Packing will help students understand this story in a way that is easier to understand. It shows Jerome, Harris, and George, three friends, packing up their things. So, it starts with them starting to pack, which is the most important part of a trip. This story comes from Jerome K. Jerome's book Three Men in a Boat. In this part, Jerome tells the story himself. He writes about what he does while his friends start to pack. Also, it's funny to see how hard it is for three grown-ups to do something as simple as a pack. The packing summary will tell you about all of the annoying things they have to deal with, including what their dog, Montmorency, does. In the same way, it shows that neither of his other two friends is very good at packing.

Jerome, Harris, and George start packing for a trip when they are ready to leave. As the storyteller, Jerome talks about how the packing went. We can tell that Jerome is pretty sure of himself because he packs everything by himself. In reality, though, he just wants to watch over the packing session while his friends do the work. But they do what he says and let him handle everything on his own while they sit back and relax. This doesn't make Jerome happy, but he gets to it anyway.

After a long time, he finally finishes packing the bag while his friends quietly watch him do all the work. Soon, Harris tells him about the shoes he forgot to bring, so Jerome has to open up the bag again to make room for them. So, when Jerome hears about the shoes, he thinks about his toothbrush, which he forgot to bring. To find it, he has to empty the whole thing out just for one toothbrush. Sadly, he finds it in a shoe and puts the bag back together.

After that, we see that George has one more question about the soap. So, because this bothers Jerome so much, he doesn't listen to it and still packs the bag. But because of his mistake, he has to open it again because his glasses are locked inside. At 10 o'clock, this packing session is finally over.

So, we see that Jerome's other two friends pack the hampers themselves to show him how it's done since he took so long. But they are just as weird and can break things, like a cup, into pieces. They also smash tomatoes and step on butter, and they smash pies. During this process, there are also bits of salt flying around. So, after a lot of chaos, they try to make things right again.

But it doesn't work as well as when their pet dog, Montmorency, makes things worse. He sits on things that are supposed to be packed, climbs into the jam, and crushes lemons like rats. But finally, the last packing is done around 12:50 a.m. After a long day of packing, they talk about what time to wake up the next day, but George falls asleep before they can talk about it. In the end, Jerome and Harris write down 6:30 as the time to wake up and go to bed.
